General Summary:
· The DBA is responsible for supporting very large and complex Oracle Databases includingthe organization, installation and support of enterprise relational database managementsystem software. Systems are based on Oracle RDBMS running on Unix platforms andactivities require the use of Oracle and specific DBA Homeroom best practices.
· General duties include database creation, maintenance, backup and recovery, performancetuning, installing new Oracle releases and supporting new application releases.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
· Perform Oracle Database Administration during Test / UAT and production cycles.
· Troubleshoot Oracle RDBMS running on Unix platforms while complying with Oracleguidelines and specific DBA Homeroom best practices.
· Create, track and report on metrics used for capacity planning purposes. Analyze currentcapacity and provide recommendations to support grow trends.· Perform database creation in support of new initiatives.· Perform schema changes required to support application release changes.
· Perform routine database maintenance, such as space allocation and index rebuilds.
· Perform backup/recovery of critical database components.
· Conduct database performance tuning activities on a regular basis.
· Provide 24X7 support for critical production issues. While on-call, the DBA must respondto being paged within 15 minutes and be capable of logging in to supported databaseswithin 30 minutes.
· Open SRs with Oracle for critical issues and provide them with all information required toresolve the issue.· Provide after hours support for release installs and required on-going databasemaintenance.
`· Develop and maintain Database DR procedures.
· Participate in DR testing to insure all databases can be recovered at the DR site whilemeeting all RTO and RPO objectives.Job Skill
Requirements:
Required Skills· 10+ years Software Engineering experience, including 5+ years as a DatabaseAdministrator. 3+ years experience with Oracle 10g.·
-Experience with Oracle statistics collection and optimizer features.
· Experience with Oracle partitioning/sub-partitioning.· Experience with Oracle parallel query configuration and tuning.
· Experience working with materialized views, both local and remote.
· Proficient in database backup and recovery using RMAN.
· Proficient in managing database storage (tablespaces, archivelogs, file systems).
· Experience with Oracle DataGuard.Additional Skills Desired· Experience with Veritas Cluster software.
· Proficient with Oracle Enterprise Manager/10g Grid Control.· 5+ years experience writing shell scripts.
· Proficient with SQL, PL/SQL and stored procedures.
· Proficient with database tools such as SQL Developer, DB Artisan.
· Proficient in managing database storage (tablespaces, archivelogs, file systems).
· Proven database performance tuning experience.
· Working knowledge of Sun Solaris Unix environment.
· Experience in producing operational and procedural documentation to a high standard.
· Strong troubleshooting and problem solving ability.
· Proven ability to work to exacting deadlines.
