Provide the strategic technical planning necessary to establish and maintain the internal
technology infrastructure for a regional office and related data centres. Using skills as a
seasoned, experienced professional, this position initiates and provides technical
solutions in the implementation, management, administration and troubleshooting of a
local/wide area network (LAN/WAN) infrastructure environment. Provide ongoing
administration and support of Infrastructure and all related devices/resources. This
position is responsible for implementing, and supporting strategic improvement
programs, which keep that infrastructure relevant, in rapidly advancing technology. The
support infrastructure includes office automation systems, management information
systems, data, and Local Area Network systems, internal servers and server resources, as
well as PCs, peripherals and associated software/services
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

· Manage Projects as Project Lead
o Reviews current status of complex processes and prepares recommendations for
process improvement.
o Develop resource work plan at the task level for major project plans.
o Monitor work activities and adjust as required.
o Provide feedback to manager regarding issues affecting the plan.
o Provide instruction, guidance and coaching to technical resources to ensure work
activities are on target.
o Communicate status and information within and outside of the department as
required.
o Coordinate requirements of user departments
o Share knowledge and best practices with other personnel.
· Provide internal customers with consulting services regarding the installation and followon
support of standard desktop equipment, related peripherals, and associated
software.
o Install desktop equipment and supported software tools (e.g., Microsoft office
automation tools, FCSS, Remedy, X1, etc.).
o Educate internal customers on how to best use supported equipment/software.
o Research customer requests, questions and issues. Evaluate the requests
from an enterprise-wide perspective.
o Liaise with the
Operations/Customer support IM group in
hardware purchases for justification.
o Ensure all software is legally licensed
o Move PC’s between desks and related equipment as required and provide all
data/voice connections
· Provide hardware and software troubleshooting and support to internal organizations
o Solve Server, PC, laptop and computer infrastructure problems by
troubleshooting hardware, software, and configuration problems.
o Solve Server, PC operating system, network operating system, electronic mail,
application software and LAN connectivity problems.
o Build/rebuild, configure and install Server, Network and desktop equipment, as
required
o Work directly with equipment manufacturers and vendors to resolve technical
issues.
· SME for LAN Environment and Services (including internal and external servers)
o Provide monitoring/support for Syniverse switched network (Cisco routers and
switches).
o Provide hardware and software updates for Windows Servers, and serverbased
applications
o Troubleshoot LAN/server issues for customer and test new LAN equipment
o Install and configure servers (Enterprise/infrastructure, and Departmental)
o Provide implementation/monitoring/support for Syniverse Enterprise clientbased
VPN infrastructure network
o Install and, where necessary, manage/support equipment and resources
supplied from Head Office and
installed in
o Use Syniverse corporate standards to define and implement strategies for
backup, space management and Business Continuity/Disaster recovery
o Provide day to day administration and review of company backups and maintain
tapes (make sure tapes are sent offsite every week).
o Provide day to day administration of local Email servers & relays, Domain
Controllers, Data Storage servers and devices, Structured Cabling, Internet
Connectivity and Proxies, Remote Access, Printers, AV equipment, CCTV and
security systems, Email and Network user accounts and groups,
Antivirus/malware protection, Group Policies, DHCP& internal DNS servers, file
& database (Oracle and SQL) servers.
o Provide 24x7 on-call support, as needed

o Provide suitable infrastructure for project hardware and devices managed by
the project teams
o Provide suitable infrastructure for customer equipment located within regional
office
o Provide suitable connectivity to project and customer equipment located at Co-
Location Data-Centers outside the
· System support
o Evaluation of Hardware and Software, within the enterprise standards provided
by responsible CIO departments.
o OS installation and patch management per the Syniverse corporate standards
o Ensure an awareness of new hardware and software products available in the
marketplace.
o Investigate and evaluate emerging technologies where relevant.
o Manage and carry out the purchase of software, hardware and other items
related to the running of the business
o Carry out day to day management of all in-house computer systems and their
functions, all infrastructure equipment and all related equipment and services
· Other
o Provide administration of KVM (Keyboard, Video & Mouse) equipment located
in Data centers in
o Some supervising and training of local Helpdesk staff.
o Maintain Local UPS (uninterruptible power supply) equipment (make sure test
are carried out periodically).
o Manage Local mobile contracts and mobile devices including Blackberry
devices.
o Ensure that documentation for all areas of responsibility is kept up to date.
Job Requirements:
· 3-5 yrs Manage Projects as Project Lead
o Develop resource work plan at the task level for major projects.

· 3-5 years switch experience, Cisco preferred
